Sarah Jones

Children’s Book Author
Sarah was born and raised in a small town in Southern Illinois. She achieved her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2007. While in graduate school, Sarah had the opportunity to work alongside her parents, both elementary school teachers, and advance reading skills with children K-4. She now resides in Texas with her husband, Justin, and two children, Derrick and Meredith.
Sarah is an Occupational Therapist in the Dallas metroplex by day and an author by night. She found her passion for writing after Derrick was born. She often found herself creating and “singing” educational songs while on walks, while playing in the park, during bath time, during diaper changes, and so on. What started out in song eventually evolved into her first manuscript.
Sarah has been inspired to empower children by creating fun books that promote cognitive, linguistic, social and emotional development. While in graduate school, Sarah co-led a research project incorporating play-based treatment intervention and strongly believes that the best way to facilitate growth and development is through play.
See how her first book, Farm Dog Fred Saves the Day, will have your little ones identifying animals, shouting out their sounds and acting out the scenes.
Sarah understands that to empower children you must also empower parents, caregivers and educators. That is why she has created her blog, EmPOWER. She provides tools to support those most influential in children’s lives, to empower themselves and their children.
